K Bar K Reference Sires

The rams listed below have been previous (purchased and homegrown) sires that we have used in our flock in the last several years. 

          

Edgar 0056 was purchased from Edgar Sheep. He had an outstanding loin eye and produced ewes who are outstanding in maternal characteristics. Edgar 0056 was RR at Codon 171 for scrapie susceptibility.

Carson 1529 was purchased from Carson Dorsets. He was a very well-balanced ram who stamps his identity on his lambs. He had the best ebv's in the flock of any purchased ram to date. We have continued a direct sire line from this ram due to his outstanding productivity and EBVs.

Ankeny B145 was purchased from Ankeny Acres and was used for several years on our farm.

K Bar K 210 was a homegrown ram sired by a K Bar K ram.  He produced some outstanding daughters that are still in our flock.

K Bar K 044098 was a homegrown ram sired by Carson 1529.  He was very muscular with lots of great Dorset character and great EBV's. He was sold to another Dorset flock to make room for the newer generation on our farm.

K Bar K 055062 was a homegrown ram sired  by Carson 1529.  He was very thick and stout, with outstanding EBV's. He also was moved along to another flock to make room for the next generation.

K Bar K 066065 was a homegrown ram sired by Ankeny B145 and out of K Bar K 3006, a ewe that lambs any time of year. He had great overall EBVs with particularly outstanding weaning weight, post weaning weight, loin eye depth, and maternal weaning weight (an indication of the dam's milking ability) EBVs. K Bar K 6065 was sold to a shepherd on the West coast to continue his genetic line.

K BAR K 077010 was a homegrown ram lamb sired by Edgar 0056 and out of K Bar K 5125, an outstanding fall-born ewe. He had great overall EBVs with particularly outstanding eye muscle depth, weaning weight, and post weaning weight EBVs. K Bar K 7010 was RR at Codon 171.

K BAR K 077144 was a Carson-sired ram that had an outsanding balance of maternal and terminal EBVs. He was QR at Codon 171.He moved on to make genetic improvements in another flock after siring several crops of lambs on our farm.
